Writing Coaching

Yo friend. I'm Rob. As a coach, I help people publish writing that feels vibrantly alive, then use the internet to find their people, connect, and open up new paths in life.

After eleven years of writing on the internet, it still amazes me that when I publish my most personal, resonant work (which is often scary as hell), it usually opens up something new my life—emotionally, relationally, economically. My essays have helped me make friends around the world, build businesses, get freelance gigs, a full time job, and even find romance. It's a bit uncanny.

I've come to believe that writing on the internet, when we lean into the work no one else but us could do, is nothing short of magic. In that vein, the work I do with clients can be broken down into three buckets.

  • Writing what’s most alive and resonant for you—the writing no one else but you could do. It doesn't matter whether you want to write tiny essays, a towering manifesto, poetry, tweets, or anything in between. Together, we'll find the essence of what you have to say, and work to express it with style, grace, and conviction.

  • Strategizing your publishing and distribution so that you reach the right people. Coming from a marketing background, I can help you publish and promote in ways that help you find the others, and open the door to opportunities that are uniquely suited to you. All without being a spammy, irritating internet marketing dude bro.

  • Getting out of your own way. Whether you’re struggling with procrastination, self-doubt, overthinking, perfectionism, or any of the other emotional traps writers fall into, I can help you get out of your head and into the game of regular writing and publishing.

If any of that sounds useful, the best way to dip your toes in the water is to book a "choose your own price" coaching call with me.

Bring a piece of writing you're working on, a problem you're stuck with, a desire in your heart, or anything else, and we'll jam on it for an hour. You'll get a taste of what working with me is like, and you can choose what to pay. And if you don't find our time valuable or insightful, you are under no obligation to pay anything.

And hey, if we both feel longer-term coaching would be a good fit, that's something we can talk about as well! But first things first, let's jump on a call to work through something, and see if we vibe.
